| Sumario: | Objective: The main objective is to reflect on the professional development of archivist and the approach proposed by the field regarding audiovisual and iconographic records in archives. As specific objectives, this study sought to identify the initial proposals for the management of these records, and to map the archival science courses, verifying the offering of courses and their syllabi concerning these documents. Methodology: Inconsistencies were identified regarding the theoretical and methodological framework regarding these records, as they are still often approached as special and specialized files, instead of being considered as records fulfilling a function with organic relationships within institutions. Conclusions: Many archival science courses in Brazil still maintain the concept of special and specialized archives and do not establish criteria or proposals for the inclusion of these records in the organic functions of institutions. |
