| Sumario: | The article covers the discursive paths that tried to delegitimize the educator Paulo Freire in Brazil in recent years. It is evident how specific arguments were imported and disseminated by the writer Olavo de Carvalho and instrumentalized in the Federal Chamber of Deputies, especially in 2019. A textual analysis of the productions of Olavo de Carvalho and related legislative proposals was carried out, designed alongside James Hunter's theoretical perspectives for framing the phenomenon in culture wars. Distortion and fraud are found in the argumentative paths and specific political positions presented as neutral positions. It is concluded that the analyzed agents engaged both in the transformation of Paulo Freire as a national enemy, as well as in the emptying of politics at school. |
