| Sumario: | Assessment is one of the topics of interest in the field of Applied Linguistics due to the impacts it can generate on teaching, learning and on all the processes and agents involved in it. This systematic literature review aims to map publications on language assessment in Brazil (native and additional languages), seeking to understand how this theme is situated in scientific production. This study mapped papers that deal with assessment in high impact national journals in the period between 2015 and 2020. The selected journals are specialized in Applied Linguistics and are classified with Qualis A1 in the area: Revista Brasileira de Linguística Aplicada, DELTA, Trabalhos em Linguística Aplicada and Linguística e Ensino. 37 articles were found. To obtain an overview of language assessment in recent years, we considered (1) the percentage of studies on evaluation; (2) the type of evaluation; (3) the language focused in the reviewed study; and (4) the Institution of origin of the authors. The results show that language assessment is poorly researched in high impact journals which reinforces the importance of studying both large-scale assessment and classroom assessment, fostering debate on the topic and helping teachers and other stakeholders to reflect on their practices. |
