| Sumario: | This paper aims to present the ethnographic research developed in conjunction with the production of the documentary “De sal e de samba” (Of Salt and Samba), which tells the story of chorinho and samba in the Lagos region of Rio de Janeiro, from the early 20th century to the present day, where there are several variations of this popular culture in the region. The article discusses the application of audiovisual resources as a methodological source where ethnographic and interview data are recorded. I hope that the documentary will help to safeguard ancient samba traditions in the region, such as sambas from quilombos and samba de roda from candomblé houses. Finally, I will discuss how the production of images can help in research on popular cultures as a way of recording this heritage and reaching information to different audiences. |
