| Resumo: | Objective: To identify the type of family bond of the elderly living in long-term care institutions. Method: This is a literature review through research in digital databases such as the Virtual Health Library (VHL), LILACS, MEDLINE, SCIELO, based on standardized and available descriptors, in studies published in the last 5 years. Results: After the analysis, 12 articles were included in the review, which discuss the institutionalization of the elderly and their feelings. Conclusion: Many family ties may have been broken in the past and not necessarily in old age, leading to the institutionalization of the elderly. But if these bonds are strengthened, they can provide the elderly a life with dignity and with guaranteed rights. |
