| Sumario: | With the objective of studying the professional valorization of the teachers of the Normal Course (NC) of the State Institute of Education Olavo Bilac (IEEOB), Santa Maria / RS and the process of feminization, between 1901 and 1970, this article resulted. The choice for the theme was based on the understanding that in order to start a study one must first understand the factors that intervene in the phenomenon, its past, present and future prospects. In this way, it is important to understand the historicity of the CN, and then to understand the value of the teachers, which implies understanding the moments, political and social that influenced the education from the beginning of the NC of the IEEOB until 1970. CN is understood as the beginning of the history of teacher training, considering the students in the last century as precursors of the profession, treated with much pomp in their graduations, and for the love of children. Teachers from whom the gift was expected, or the ability to view the profession as a mission, as if they were intended for teaching. These characteristics, given the prevalence of CN in the history of education, are still evident in the pedagogical work of the teachers of childhood in the schools of Rio Grande do Sul. |
