Descripción
Sumario:This research aimed to identify the levels of development of geometric thinking of students in the final years of elementary school in relation to the concept of remarkable quadrilaterals. The study included 297 students from a school in the city of Recife, Pernambuco. Each participant answered a test formed by five problems, of which we present the analysis related to the first problem. The results obtained indicate that the school environment interferes with the development of geometric thinking, however, not significantly. This was noticed throughout schooling, for example, in relation to level n, in which the relative frequency varies very little, starting with 98.5% in the 6th grade, going to 86.8% in the 7th grade, reaching 67.4 % in the 8th grade, reaching 55.4% in the 9th grade. Despite this significant reduction, we believe that it was not significant, as most 9th grade students were still working at level n.
