| Resumo: | The aim of this study is to conduct a theoretical exposition about freudian conception of melancholy presented in Mourning & Melancholy (1917/2012b). Here, is provided to the reader a brief historical recovery about the writing and publication of the respective assay with special emphasis to the time of project’s elaboration of metapsychology built by Freud. The main elements pointed out by Freud such as melancholic affection: narcissistic identification, ambivalence and sadism are discussed. Therefore, this article is a theoretical-conceptual assay in psychoanalysis. Based on literary works discussed along to text, it is sought to evidence the study of the Mourning & Melancholy assay enables the understanding of relevant unconscious psychic processes, evidencing that in the melancholy there is an intense conflict between ideal components of the Ego and requirements of the Superego related with the Ego. We understand that the study about the melancholy’s concept by Freud promotes the recovery of essential formulations for the history of psychoanalytic movement. |
