| Sumario: | The objective of this study was to compare the economic performance of egg production in laying hens raised in cage and floor systems under hot climate conditions. The economic risk level of the production systems was assessed due to the fluctuation in prices of soybean meal and corn. The experiment was carried out at the Experimental Farm of the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) in Santo Antônio do Leverger – Mato Grosso, using 320 laying hens of the Hysex Brown lineage, aged 34 to 43 weeks. Risk analysis was conducted through Monte Carlo Simulation, and economic analysis was performed using the following indicators: Total Cost, Total Revenue, Profit, Contribution Margin, and Cost-Benefit Ratio. Among the main results obtained, it was observed that birds raised in the floor system achieved better productive and economic outcomes compared to those raised in the cage system, which may be related to the improvement of the well-being of the laying hens. It was found that the fluctuation in price of soybean meal and corn could increase the economic risk of egg production in both floor and cage systems of chicken farming. |
