Sumario:The research problem of this article consists of the following question: when does eugenics result as a product of the practice of genetic editing and modification by CRISPr-Cas9? The exploration of the topic is justified by the emergence of polarized opinions about ethical and moral standards in the application of genetic engineering, necessitating broad analysis and reasonable proposals that address in a general and responsible manner the issues surrounding the subject. The first section of this study aims to analyze the main ethical and moral questions in the field of genetic modification and editing, focusing on the CRISPR-Cas9 system. Subsequently, the circumstances under which the use of CRISPR-Cas9 can be authorized are demonstrated, highlighting the limitation of data and information about the procedure given its novelty and its respective impacts on the principle of autonomy because of the Informed Consent. In the end, it is verified that the use of the CRISPR-Cas9 system is not admitted and considered a eugenic practice if performed in vivo, but acceptable as a therapeutic method and admitted if used in human beings born, if its use is tied to beneficence and non-maleficence of the patient. The integrated research method is used through the bibliographical research technique to reach the results and the proposed conclusion
