Descrição
Resumo:The purpose of the text is to contribute to the debates on the use of history in the interpretation of Brazil and / or national identity. It takes as its main source / document, the Work: “A Cultura Brasileira” (2010) published in 1943. The object is Fernando de Azevedo's explanation and description, regarding the application of history as knowledge, in the construction of his historical - sociological essay - sociological about Brazilian culture. It understanding this aspect makes it possible to read how an intellectual organizes and gives historical meaning to the world and the things of life. Adopting a methodology based on bibliographic interpretation, the problem focuses on telling / narrating about the strategies and uses that the author makes of historical knowledge to reveal Brazil to Brazilians. Therefore, the objective is to present some reflections on Author and work, understanding how the thinker in question, saw Brazil at the beginning of the 20th century. In general, I believe that this theme contributes to society and the demands of the present time.
