| Summary: | The following article aims to analyze the speeches produced by the press in Belo Horizonte about the professionalization of football, more specifically about the tensions noted between the wanted modernization with the new regime and the real possibilities of the local scenario. As methodology, reports from newspapers and magazines produced in the capital of Minas Gerais and other locations, such as Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, were analyzed, due to the perception of the circulation of common speeches and then fluency of the football scenario of these cities. The analysis of the sources showed an ambiguous coexistence between said speeches, which or invoked supposed progresses of the professionalism opposed to the lag of the amateurism, or condemned the professional regime in favor of the real meaning of the sport, that is only provided by the amateur practice. Far from the peace making that the word ‘transition’ can suppose, the change of the regimes remained during the 30’s as the protagonist of a conflicted discursive scenario. |
