Descrição
Resumo:In 1928, writer Mario de Andrade presented to the conservative Brazilian society the pages of Macunaíma. Four decades later, film director Joaquim Pedro de Andrade, inspired on the book, brought Macunaíma to the film screens. Two creative appearances about the same character, in different languages, which have become symbols of artistic movements: “Modernismo” and “Cinema Novo”. This work aims to analyze the intersemiotic tensions created from the written signs that identify the hero Macunaíma, and its transposition to the audiovisual media, taking into account the limits of each medium and how social and political context influenced these artists.
