Descripción
Sumario:Although many researches in the field of Onomastics in Latin America have been carried out in recent years, many focusing on a variety of subjects, it must be argued that anthroponymy remains an understudied topic so far (San Martín Gómez, 2021). This paper aims to analyse Querétaro's forenames during the first half of the 19th century. For this purpose, 50 documents from Querétaro (Gutiérrez Bello, 2017) will be studied in order to: a) describe the usage of forenames in this region; b) analyse the distribution of forenames in regarding to social criteria; c) compare the usage of forenames in other Hispanic regions. The final goal is to increase the knowledge of historical anthroponymy in Querétaro and also in the American continent.
