Descripción
Sumario:Objectives of this exploratory descriptive study were to identify the existence of a relation between the violence and jealousy concepts in the Community Health Agents (CHA) perception, to capture experiences of jealousy and violence and to verify the knowledge regarding community resources on giving support to victims. An interview with seven CHA that worked on two Health Basic Units from the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul state was proceeded. Social Representation Theory was taken as a reference. Ethical precepts that rule the research with human beings were respected. Through content analysis it was noticed that jealousy was what unleashed the violence, either in a personal or in a professional aspect, being woman the largest victim. Findings reveal the need of awareness by health care professionals to identify the violence risk against women, which can be implicit inside homes, and that, many times is interpreted as jealousy manifestation.
