Sumario:The objective of the study was to recognize meanings assigned to physical activity by elderly people who attended service centers in Puerto Rico, and its links with the subjective benefits of health, discomfort and psychological, physical and social well-being. A qualitative study of a phenomenological type with 55 participants. The primary significance was exercise, walking, and physical health; recognized its multidimensional importance; some comments were: "he feels happy", "I avoid mental illnesses with distraction", "to eliminate pain".Keywords: Physical Activity; Elderly; Psychological well-being.
