Sumario:The interview as Prof. Belmiro Gil Cabrito, specialist in economics of education (University of Lisbon), is part of an academic period of Postdoctoral Internship, which we were together in academic orientation. The dialogue focuses on the issues of financing higher education in a context of expansion and diversification of the Portuguese system of higher education, favored by the democratization of access after the Carnation Revolution (1975) and neoliberal market policies. The contributions of the exhibition refer to the concern with the guarantee of the research activity, in terms of disinterested knowledge and useful to the community as a whole and the need to observe the essence of university institutions in contemporary times, in their aspects of autonomy and production of knowledge in controversy the financial dependence of privatist interests.
