| Sumario: | This article focuses on a discussion about Science, Technology and Society (STS) linked with Environment, using animated films. The chosen film was "Rio", an American production of 2011, which will lead the discussions. The film tells the story of Blu, a Brazilian blue macaw that was captured by animal smugglers when he was just born. Blu never learned to fly and lives a pet life in Minnesota, US, with her owner, Linda, but when she discovers that her macaw might be the last male of its breed, she agrees to go to Rio de Janeiro in an attempt to save the species. In the methodology we present a film analysis with a STS approach that can be used as a didactic strategy in science teaching. As conclusions, we can establish the advance in the discussion regarding more comprehensive and critical thoughts about the themes shown on in the film, especially environmental issues involving smuggling and endangered animals, that influences our current time and world. |
