Individuals that are subjected to unlucky events lose capital, while those that are subjected to lucky events may gain capital, depending on their talent. In this dissertation, some inadequacies of the model are pointed out, such as the fact that the authors do not analyze the effect of the number of iterations, which is a key factor in the analysis of the model. Given such problems, we have proposed an equivalent model, defined in terms of an ensemble of random walks, which allows us a more rigorous analysis of the results. Finally, we present some variations of this model.Neste trabalho, será apresentado e discutido o modelo Talent vs Luck (TvL), que investiga o papel da sorte e do talento para o sucesso de um indivíduo dentro de uma sociedade. Os autores propõem uma dinâmica de evolução de capital (sinônimo de “sucesso”) baseada em eventos de sorte e de azar, na qual aqueles que passam por eventos de azar perdem capital, e os que passam por eventos de sorte têm chances de ganhar capital ou permanecer com a mesma quantia, dependendo do talento. Nessa dissertação, serão apontadas algumas inadequações do modelo, como, por exemplo, o fato dos autores não analisarem o efeito do número de iterações, que é um fator importantíssimo na análise do modelo. Tendo em vista tais inadequações, nós propusemos um modelo equivalente, definido em termos de um ensemble de passeios aleatórios, que nos permite uma análise mais rigorosa dos resultados.
