Sumario:Faced with the reality of the dropout of students in technical courses integrated to high school at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Bahia -IFBA, this article aims to understand, within the perceptions of students and course coordinators, what the causes of this occurrence. The specific objectives were: a) Identify retention points in the course's curriculum; b) Identify the causes of evasion and retention; c) Identify the trend indicators that influence dropout and retention. As a methodology, the research has a qualitative approach. The procedures used were: 1. Questionnaire with objective questions for students; 2. Semi-structured interviews with course coordinators; 3. Documentary analysis of the projects of the integrated technical courses: Electromechanics, Mechanics, Oil and Gas and Metallurgy and 4. Questionnaire applied to Academic Resources Management (GRA). As a result, we realized that the main reasons for dropout in the perception of coordinators and students were: 1. Duration of the course, 2. Strikes and breaks in the school year, and 3. New Corona Virus pandemic. In addition, we noted the lack of communication between the sectors and coordination in terms of adopting measures to prevent evasion.
