| Resumo: | This paper analyses the use of the indexing policy in academic libraries placed in the city of Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil. It is characterized as a descriptive study with quantitative approach, which was developed through research online questionnaire that was sent to librarians. The results indicate that indexing is conducted in most units according to specific rules and criteria, although there is no formally established policy. It stands out the form thematic description by selective indexing, derivative and attributive, in natural language and by manual process. It concludes that indexing policies have existed informally in libraries in Goiânia, from observation of the standardization and coherency in the attribution of terms, but without registration and formalization of the decision- making process in officially established document. |
