Sumario:Over the years the popularity of futsal has been increasing in Brazil, as well as soccer, this fact is due to its practice in school, due to the reduced space available to practice Physical Education. Based on this context, this study aims to evaluate the effects of physical training on the physical fitness of schoolchildren in the city of Niterói-RJ. The population was composed of 33 school boys from 11 to 15 years old, belonging to Elementary School a school of the State Education Network of the city of Niterói-RJ. The data were summarized by means of frequencies, position measurements and dispersion measurements and effect size determination. For intra-group comparative analysis (pre-post) the Wilcoxon non-parametric test was applied. The intragroup analysis of the volunteers shows that, with the exception of the 20 m run, there was a significant improvement in physical fitness in all other variables at the end of the training. However, when evaluating the effect of the training, an insignificant effect is observed for the variables horizontal impulse, vertical impulse, medicine ball and run 6 min and small effect for running 20 m. The specific practices of sports modalities related to futsal presented as being important for improving the motor skills of schoolchildren.
