Descripción
Sumario:Based on the assumption that creativity is a key resource in a knowledge-based economy, the current work aimed to identify areas with potential signs of clusters related to the creative sector in Brazil and their likely contribution to local development. The multivariate clustering analysis was utilized to estimate clusters of almost homogeneous municipalities in terms of dynamism and creativity, employing microdata from IBGE's Demographic Census for the years 2000 and 2010. We found three main clusters classified, respectively, as a large national hub, national creative hub and regional creative hub, demonstrating the potential for the formation of productive clusters in the sector. The cities that formed such groups stand out because of their urban infrastructure; institutional robustness; governance; presence of skilled labor; position in the urban hierarchy and proximity to the country’s most dynamic region.
