The objective is to verify how the transactions between the kaki producers from the Antônio Carlos district and the downstream and upstream agents of the productive chain occur, as well as to study the governance structure in this chain. The data were obtained from semi-structured interviews carried out with seven producers, who were chosen according to criteria such as accessibility and representativity of the district’s production. It was verified that the contracts made between the producers and the downstream industry are classic and the form of governance is the market. In transactions between the producers and the distributors, the contracts are relational and governance is bilateral. It was observed that an effective association is necessary to provide better conditions for the purchase of inputs and the distribution of the product.O presente trabalho trata da importância da cadeia produtiva de caqui no município de Antônio Carlos e suas potencialidades de crescimento, analisada sob a ótica da Economia dos Custos de Transação. Tem como objetivos verificar como se concretizam as transações entre os produtores de caqui do município com os agentes a montante e a jusante da cadeia produtiva, bem como estudar a estrutura de governança presente nessa cadeia. Os dados utilizados na pesquisa foram obtidos em entrevistas semiestruturadas, realizadas com sete produtores, escolhidos intencionalmente por critérios de acessibilidade e representatividade na produção de caqui do município. Verificou-se que os contratos praticados entre os produtores com a indústria a montante são do tipo clássico e a forma de governança é de mercado. Já nas transações entre os produtores de caqui e os seus distribuidores, os contratos são do tipo relacional e a forma de governança é bilateral.
