Descripción
Sumario:The article presents a reflection on the content discussed the 1st edition of the “NER Asks: Is radio racist?” event, promoted by the Radio Studies Center on November 19, 2024 via YouTube. With the participation of three black broadcasters from Rio Grande do Sul - Antônio Carlos Côrtes, Denise Cruz and Renê Almeida -, they answered questions posed by Internet users. The research is anchored in Grada Kilomba's (2019) perspective of everyday racism, which occurs in a subtle, veiled and often normalized way, becoming a structural element in society and in communication. The methodological process takes place by decoupaging the interviews with the broadcasters, combined with qualitative observation of the reports. The analysis of the narratives presented at the meeting reveals significant insights into racist practices in the context of Brazilian radio, especially in Rio Grande do Sul, and discusses them in the light of National Black Awareness Day.
