Sumario:Analyzes of public policies demonstrate that there is a history of distance teacher training courses in Brazil, at the initiative of the public power and through governmental programs. In this context, a research was conducted on the training of distance teachers in Brazil, through public initiative. The research sought to know policies of teacher education and implementation of government programs of distance education. It comprised an exploratory and descriptive study, making use of documentary and bibliographic analysis. Different models of these programs were evidenced and at medium and higher levels. This text intends to present some of these programs and discuss about public and distance teacher training. Together with the discussion of resolutions nº 1 of February 2, 2016, of the Câmara de Educação Básica and nº 1 of March 11, 2016, of the Câmara de Educação Superior, both of the Conselho Nacional de Educação.
