| Sumario: | The purpose of this text is to examine the terms queer and camp in fashion. Often used as synonyms, they are in fact close in relation to the substantiality of appearances; however, it is necessary to discuss some moments in which queer does not necessarily dialogue with camp, nor does camp appeared as a strictly queer sensibility in the Sontagian perspective. Analyzing the exhibition Camp: Notes on fashion (2019), inspired by Susan Sontag's writings Notes on 'camp', organized by The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, we raise some questions about what was considered camp by the museum's curators and the absences that have been made and are being made from museum collections referring to camp and queer in the field of fashion and clothing. |
