Description
Summary:This article presents a debate on the potential of audiovisual use in the teaching of Geosciences.  Teacher training for basic education teachers was taken as a background for this research. A survey about how teachers of different areas (Biology, Physics, Geography and Chemistry) conceive the relations between the teaching of Geosciences and audiovisual use was carried out. This survey was made through the application of a questionnaire to teachers of a low-income student pre-university course in Rio de Janeiro. As a result, it became evident that most of these teachers identify gaps in their Geosciences and audiovisual use knowledge in their training. This indicates the need to invest in continuing education policies and, also, to reform the curricula of undergraduate teaching courses.
