| Sumario: | The current literature shows that malnutrition in patients with gastric cancer is present in about 60% of patients, with variations depending on tumor stage, histological type and antineoplastic treatment, directly impacting on various aspects. This study aims to analyze and understand the nutritional aspects, as well as their impacts/implications on the clinical outcome of patients with gastric cancer. This is an integrative literature review study, in the period 2017-2022, by means of a survey in electronic databases on the PubMed, SCIELO, and Google Academic platforms. Six articles were selected based on a critical analysis and relevance to the suggested theme, showing the impacts of malnutrition on the clinical outcome of gastric cancer patients. Gastric cancer patients with poor nutritional status have a greater tendency to postoperative complications, higher morbidity and mortality, shorter disease-free survival, lower overall survival and lower quality of life. |
