| Summary: | The aim of this text is to make a brief analysis of the use of pastoral power in the structuring of the Christian Right in the United States and in the drafting of its political agenda, making it converge with the neoconservatism of lay origin. Through the above, to enter into the understanding of pastoral power as a technique of power that constitutes the evangelical subject and traces its agere et figura in the terms of the anatomopolytic and biopolitics provided by Michel Foucault. Secondarily, after introducing the topics, we will deal with the genesis of the pastoral power emphasizing the shepherd-flock metaphor to explain the configuration of the pastoral power as epimeleia ton allon and as omnes et singulatim and detail its characteristics, principles and properties. In the next chapter, we will explain the two main techniques of pastoral power in modernity and the mechanism of the oikonomia of souls as technology of power. In the fourth section, we will cover the main transformations of pastoral power in modernity to understand its new relationship with the market-state in the constitution of the modern subject. Fifth, we will see, with the text "Neoconservatism of periphery" by Marina Basso Lacerda; the intertwining of the establishment with the agenda of the evangelical movement, this throughout the XX century and with pastoral power as a hinge. |
