Considering this, my paper aims to observe how the concept of fantastic showed by the Bulgarian thinker can be articulated with the conception of art criticism exposed by Walter Benjamin (2010a) in his text entitled “Goethe’s elective affinities”. Ultimately I would like to think if the moment of hesitation, essential for the existence of the fantastic, may also be fundamental to make possible the existence of the critique of a specific work of art.Como afirma Todorov (2017, p. 166) em Introdução à literatura fantástica, o fantástico “se fundamenta essencialmente numa hesitação do leitor – um leitor que se identifica com a personagem principal – quanto à natureza de um acontecimento estranho”. O objetivo deste artigo é observar como esse conceito apresentado pelo pensador búlgaro pode se articular com a concepção de crítica de arte exposta por Benjamin (2010a) em “As afinidades eletivas de Goethe”.
