| Sumario: | This research is the result of reflections built up during part of the field activities of the "Vodou Project: studies of Cognitive Anthropology, Ethnobotany and Traditional Medicine on Isla Hispaniola, Caribbean Sea". During activities to document sacred spaces in the Anse-à-Pitres and Thiotte region, it was possible to experience and document some landmarks in the landscape and environment, as well as natural spaces that have been intentionally modified or reused in terms of Vodou symbolism. These spaces serve as pilgrimages for members of the Vodou religion and are where they enter into communion with the loas. The work itself is the synthesis of a larger ethnographic reading of the relationship between community, ecological niches as magical-religious spaces and the challenges of doing science, reflecting and building knowledge in a country devastated and impacted by a series of natural, historical and social factors. Keywords: Landscapes and memories. Haitian Vodou. Ethnographic reading. Anse-à-Pitres, southeast Haiti, Isla Hispaniola. |
