| Sumario: | This article aims to contribute to the understanding of the history of the notion of linguistic sign in the context of modern linguistics, with an emphasis on the scientific productions of the Swiss linguist Ferdinand de Saussure and the Russian theorist Lev Semyonovich Vygotsky and Valentín Nikoláievich Volóchinov. Therefore, biographical aspects will be analyzed, as well as the academic production of these authors, besides the theoretical articulations about notion of linguistic sign that they became referenceon the studies focused on language sciences.
