The research was descriptive in nature is a qualitative, in a random sample of ten nurses. Data were collected through the technique of semi-structured interview, from September to November 2008 in an intensive care unit of a university hospital in João Pessoa/PB/BR. To organize and analyze the data, we used the technique of the Collective Subject Discourse. The speech material provided, among others, the following ideas: the pain is a response to invasive procedures, assessment across the face of pain and anguish, through the intensity scales, administration of prescribed medications. The Collective Subject Discourse showed that the pain is caused by many invasive procedures being difficult to analyze because it is a subjective, individual and emotional phenomenon.Universidade Federal do Ceará2011-06-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionhttp://periodicos.ufc.br/rene/article/view/4281Rev Rene; Vol 12 No 3 (2011)Rev Rene; v. 12 n. 3 (2011)2175-67831517-3852reponame:Rev Rene (Online)instname:Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)instacron:UFCCopyright (c) 2016 Northeast Network Nursing Journalinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessengSilva, Cleyton Cézar SoutoVasconcelos, Josilene de Melo BuritiNóbrega, Maria Miriam Lima da2019-02-25T17:13:26Zoai:periodicos.ufc:article/4281Revistahttp://periodicos.ufc.br/renePUBhttp://periodicos.ufc.br/rene/oairene@ufc.br||2175-67831517-3852opendoar:2019-02-25T17:13:26Rev Rene (Online) - Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)false
