| Resumo: | This essay proposes the analysis of the representations of motherhood in the book Poemas da recordação e outros movimentos (2017), by Conceição Evaristo, through the theory of the imaginary. In order to do this, three poems were selected: “Filhos na rua”, “Eu-mulher” and “Bendito o sangue de nosso ventre”. In these, the symbology of motherhood is discussed through the archetypes of the material elements: fire, water, air and earth, as established by Gaston Bachelard. Futhermore, throught the concept of escrevivência, as proposed by the poet, this essay extrapolates the notions of the imaginary, crossing the analysis of poetic images with a socio-historical discussion about the referred representations. |
