| Sumario: | This study stems from the perception Gomes Leal (1848-1921) on universal themes transcribed on heteroclite and composite, demonstrating how the landscape and urban space decadent influence on your mood. This work aims, first, to understand the relationship between the text and the poetic landscape, revealing elements of the state of mind of the poet in his major work Claridades do Sul, whose first edition dates from 1875. The work in question presents innovation in language and theme, in a posture of release of previously established standards and reflects both the shifting and conflicting life of the poet as well as the environment in which they lived. Taking into account that man is an integral part of the landscape and in this context , subject and object are not separate, we realized that the urban space is described by lyrical, in fact, the state of mind of the poet himself. Once complementary part of the landscape, the poet absorbs, and in the process, both subject and object will degenerate and reflecting directly the poetic construction. The relevance of the research is justified by the magnitude of the literary movements of the nineteenth century, in their Isms Romanticism, Realism, Symbolism, Decadentism , references to later manifestations in all forms of art. This work is based on the theoretical principles of Candido, Aguiar and Silva, Bosi, Borges, Paz, among others, claiming the theories of poetic text, as well as the theoretical ideas about space and landscape, authored by Santos and Oliveira, Blanchot, Bachelard, Alves, Collot, Oliveira, Marandola Jr., among others.
