| Sumario: | Objective: To evaluate the application of the NAS Scale (Nursing Activities Score) to critical patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 in the Intensive Care Unit of a University Hospital. Method: Quantitative, cross-sectional and descriptive study, carried out from March to December 2020 in a COVID19 ICU in the State of Parana - Brazil. The variables were analyzed statistically, with a sample of 251 patients. Results: The mean age was 61 years, male predominance (n=147; 58.57%). Of the total, 148 (58.96%) patients were discharged and 103 (41.04%) died. The NAS ranged from 4.5 to 114.4, with an average of 82.01 points. The mean length of stay was 9.33 days (p=0.0254). The NAS showed statistical significance between the 7th to the 15th day of hospitalization, being the days with more patient care. Regarding comorbidities, 210 patients (83.67%) had some morbidity. Conclusion: The nursing workload, assessed by the NAS in COVID-19 patients, is high, with statistical significance found from the 7th to the 15th day of hospitalization, elderly, male patients with underlying diseases associated with hospitalization. |
