Descrição
Resumo:Traditional strategies for regional development prioritize expanding production with new investment and productivity gains through attracting exogenous capital. An alternate focus to value local products and services is identifying them with the territory, including natural characteristics, cultural traits and constructed elements. This article aims to analyze, propositively, how intangible values of the landscape can potentialize processes of sustainable development in mountain territories. The importance of endogenous development in promoting sustainable development in mountain environments is highlighted. And it's verified that the differentiated landscape of mountain environments has aspects that can propel production and value creation, bringing jobs and productive occupations, businesses, income, cultural vitality and environmental care. This understanding announces innovative directions for public policies aimed at the sustainable development of mountain environments.
