Summary:The object of this research is related to gender discrimination and domestic violence, starting from the analysis of the oppressor-oppressed relationship that runs through the universe of women subjected to aggression and even those who are victims of homicide by their partners. The empirical universe of the work is restricted to the narratives of these situations witnessed by teachers and administrators in the scope of Basic Education, notably in schools located in the city of São Paulo and adjacent areas. The theoretical framework is based on authors from the field of Law and Education, particularly, in the latter case, linked to the Freirean and Freirianist matrix that includes the works of Paulo Freire and thinkers/researchers of the tradition of the pedagogy of the oppressed. It is a qualitative work, whose data collection resorted to the techniques of structured and semi-structured interviews (in depth), for the collection of information. The general objective of the research is, knowing the theme in the school reality, to propose discussions and pedagogical interventions for Basic Education in order to promote debates on gender issues and violence against women. It was observed that, in general, the schools surveyed have not incorporated the theme into the curriculum or even provided initiatives, in the classroom or outside it, in relation to the social debate on gender and violence against women, even considering that, especially in the last decade, this theme has gained greater social visibility, whether in the mass media, or in television programs, or in different media and social networks, or in the legal field, etc. What is observed is that the pedagogical actions related to the theme are almost always limited to the individual initiatives of teachers and managers, especially in situations of occurrence of this type of violence in the school environment. As a proposal for pedagogical intervention, the work proposes, in its final part, some “Fundamental principles for school work on the subject of violence against women”.
