In this aspect, the question is: what is the role of the dairy activity for family farming establishments in the municipality of Boa Ventura de São Roque/PR? The objective of the research is to analyze the importance of the dairy activity for a group of family farmers from Boa Ventura de São Roque/PR, members of the project called "competitive milk". Methodologically, the research is exploratory and descriptive, with a qualitative character, it appears as a case study on 18 family farmers of the “competitive milk” project. The results indicate that the dairy activity is the main source of income, generating 64.4% of the gross product of the establishments, milk allows greater agricultural income since the share of the gross product that stays with the farmers is 57.61%, percentage higher than 47.53% when considering the other activities. The activity still deconcentrates income, since the richest 50% of producers concentrate 64.38% of agricultural income, an amount lower than the 66.67% concentrated when evaluating the set of activities of the establishments.
