Summary:With the aim of making the reader think over the question “How can we help students of the Secondary School to become familiar with Mathematical thinking?”, we report in this paper an experience that took place in an 8th grade classroom in 2008: the teacher, while discussing aboutaddition properties, tries to develop with his students both abstract and mathematical thinking, keeping the appropriate vocabulary of this school level.
