Sumario:The relationship between information literacy and fake news in the universe of digital media and social networks was addressed, through information literacy, fake news and disinformation, in the information age, research sources. The study aimed to present the relationships between fake news and information literacy, suggesting guidelines for the identification and reduction of the influence of fake news in the context of digital media and social networks.Therefore, the research emphasized the impact of fake news, current in digital media and social networks, generate on society, highlighting the information literacy as the main strategy to combat fake news and human informational training. It was carried out a bibliographic research. The results showed that the role of scientists and information professionals is to work against fake news in the environment of digital media and social networks. The effects of falsifying news can be dangerous, posing risks to society's consistency. As final considerations, it was stated that information literacy is the guiding process for human preparation and training about access and effective use of information in its multivariate contexts, as well as that this process is essentially important tocombat fakes news.
