Sumario:The purpose of this paper is to analyze a graphic novel and a movie, both named Turma da Mônica: Laços, in which we will approach similarities and differences between them, concerning plot, script, character design and visual characterization, sound, framework, and the placement of easter eggs. We will start by investigating the different terminations that are used by researchers and academicians when they relate to a work resulted of an interpretation from a former text. In the film field, there are those who name these relations, adaptations. Others may prefer to name them, intermediality. Transmedia storytelling is also a termination often used. On the other hand, in the field of linguistics, some may call it intersemiotic translation. Others name it hipertextuality. The multitude of terminations may seem confusing, but it is fundamental that we are able to name the relation between the two works of art that we will be analyzing. Subsequently, we will investigate the relations between both media: comics and movies, establishing comparisons among their common or proper codes. The life and work of Mauricio de Sousa also will be presented, as well as Monica’s Gang’s Universe. We will explore its unfolding, classifying the many “gang’s” that makes it up, as well as the other aspects of the franchise, that spreads into different kinds of comics. For the analysis, we seek to identify the ways in which both narratives relate, whether diverging whether converging, as well as the production of sense created by visual or sound effects, e by the choises made during the process of character development or by actors’ characterization. Besides, we will briefly discuss the way by which the placement of easter eggs was made as a mean to estimulte an active search by the public.
