description This article seeks to investigate the ways in which the works Leite derramado (2009) and Essa gente (2019), by writer Chico Buarque, are developments of urban fiction. As Karl Erik Schollhammer (2009) says, contemporary Brazilian literature gives way to short stories of everyday life and a more intimate narrative, a fact that does not neglect social criticism. It is from this perspective that the urban theme is placed within the narratives listed, in a disinterested, allegorical and acidic way. The city in both narratives takes shape and can be observed as a character. The idealization of the urban structure, a utopia, is not realized in the Brazilian context (Gomes, 2008) and its dismantling and ruins are the paths along which the protagonists, Eulálio and Duarte, travel. The ruins of an unfulfilled Rio de Janeiro are similar to the ruins of men's lives. And like any scenario of disorganized urbanization, cities, and social inequality, violence will be a privileged topic – be it urban violence or the structural violence that is the founder of the Brazilian worldview.

Como dice Karl Erik Schollhammer (2009), la literatura brasileña contemporánea da paso a relatos breves de la vida cotidiana y a una narrativa más íntima, hecho que no descuida la crítica social. Es desde esta perspectiva que la temática urbana se sitúa dentro de las narrativas enumeradas, de manera desinteresada, alegórica y ácida. La ciudad en ambas narrativas toma forma y puede observarse como un personaje. La idealización de la estructura urbana, una utopía, no se realiza en el contexto brasileño (Gomes, 2008) y su desmantelamiento y ruina son los caminos por los que transitan los protagonistas, Eulálio y Duarte. Las ruinas de un Río de Janeiro incumplido son similares a las ruinas de la vida de los hombres. Como disserta Karl Erik Schollhammer (2009), a literatura brasileira contemporânea dá lugar aos pequenos relatos do cotidiano e a uma narrativa mais intimista, fato que não negligencia a crítica social. É dessa fora que a temática urbana está posta dentro das narrativas elencadas, de um modo desinteressado, alegórico e de tom ácido. A cidade em ambas as narrativas toma corpo e pode ser observada como um personagem. A idealização da estrutura urbana, uma utopia, não se realiza no contexto brasileiro (Gomes, 2008) e seu desmonte e suas ruínas são os caminhos pelos quais os protagonistas, Eulálio e Duarte, transitam. As ruínas de um Rio de Janeiro não realizado são semelhantes às ruínas das vidas dos homens.
