Sumario:This work aims at analyzing the deontic modality in the media discourse, seeking to integrate the contextual, pragmatic, semantic and morphosyntatic aspects. With the theoretical support of the Discourse Functional Grammar (HENGEVELD; MACKENZIE, 2008), we make an integrated analysis of the manifestation of variables related to the context, as well as to the formulation and codification of this category. We used a sample of the REDIP corpus, developed by the Institute of Theoretical and Computational Linguistics (ILTEC). Among other results, the analysis reveals the predominance of deontic values in the television media, in the thematic grouping called "opinion".
