Descripción
Sumario:This article aimed to conduct a comparative analysis between the Agricultural Census data and the Corporate Taxpayer Registry (CNPJ) records of family-owned rural agro-industries in the municipality of Guatambu, Santa Catarina. The study is an exploratory qualitative research focusing on secondary data analysis. In terms of procedures, it is a documentary study based on IBGE data and municipal records collected from the Guatambu City Hall. Significant discrepancies were found between the number of family agro-industries registered in the IBGE censuses and the municipal records, suggesting a high level of informality in the sector. Therefore, it is concluded that the legal formalization of agro-industries is essential for the sustainable development of the agricultural sector, and that greater integration between the registration systems and the legal formalization of agro-industries is needed.
