| Sumario: | The article intends to analyze, from the notion of pop-peripheral music, some particularities that contextualize the rap and electronic funk scenes in Belo Horizonte today. We propose an examination centered on the rapper FBC up to his last album, Baile, understanding that this trajectory entangles, in its lyrical, sonic, performative, and communicational aspects, complexities of a reconfiguration of Brazilian musical production, from the reading of Pereira de Sá (2021). Historically approaching the relationship between music and territory, with debates about musical scenes and genres, we underline how the dynamics between center and periphery present in local rap and funk help to single out the rise of new actors such as FBC. Highlighting the pop, media and creative crossings that mark his production, we analyze Baile as a possible place for the understanding of these processes, which are understood as part of the contemporary pop peripheral music of the city. |
