| Sumario: | Due to the prominence in which the smile aesthetics is currently, one of the main complaints reported by patients is the gingival smile. To correct this alteration, it is necessary to know the etiological factors and the different treatment options. The present work aims to present a clinical case of a young patient with gummy smile, and the surgical treatment for its correction. The etiology of the gummy smile in this case report is excessive vertical growth of the maxilla, and the indication for the correction of this alteration is the technique of superior repositioning of the maxilla associated with the increase of the aesthetic clinical crown, however, the patient chose by the aesthetic surgical procedure alone. Surgery consisted of an apically repositioned flap with osteotomy. The result obtained was positive with high patient satisfaction, and it was possible to verify a significant reduction in gingival exposure. |
