| Sumario: | The urbanization process of cities has accentuated the consequences of global climate change. Therefore, the relevance of studies that demonstrate the importance of urban open spaces for the quality of life of city users is highlighted. The objective of this work is to contribute to the understanding of the relationships between vegetation, microclimate and user behavior in urban open spaces. The study was carried out in the Kartódromo Park in the city of São Carlos-SP, whose climate is characterized as tropical in altitude. The methodology consists of: characterization of the study area; definition of measurement points; behavioral maps; microclimatic measurements; analysis of results; and discussion. It was noticed that the air temperature values were similar in the shaded point, as well as in the point exposed to the sun. Some variables interfered in the behavior of others, as was the case of air temperature compared to wind speed. Another factor that may also have an influence is the type of paving in the surroundings. Despite this, park users continued to prefer shaded areas to carry out their activities. It was concluded that in some situations, therefore, the presence of vegetation is not enough to guarantee an improvement in the local microclimate. |
