Sumario:Considering that there are not any Brazilian instruments to evaluate sensory processing abilities and their effect on the functionality of children and teenagers, this study translated into Brazilian Portuguese and culturally adapted the Sensory Profile. This study fits is a non-experimental, cross-sectional and descriptive research, and the steps were: translation, back-translation, revision by a specialist committee on analysis, evaluation of the scoring and verification of the instrument’s internal consistency. The sample consisted of 50 parents of children aged 5 to 10, regularly enrolled on a private elementary school in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. The application of the translated and culturally adapted questionnaire yielded an internal consistency of 0.76, suggesting that the translated and adapted instrument is understandable and suited for future studies directed toward obtaining evidence of validity.
